Something not working?

Four problems account for almost everything people run into. Start here, and write to us if none of them match.

Troubleshooting

The four common ones

  • Nothing appears in the transcript

The app needs permission to capture system audio. On macOS, approve the screen-and-audio prompt the first time you press the microphone, and check System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen Recording. If the meeting audio is routed to a headset the operating system treats as a separate device, select the same output device you are listening on.

  • Answers or listening stopped working

Check your credit on the welcome screen: when AI or speech credit runs out, that part pauses until your plan refills or you upgrade. If the app says it can't reach the ChampAI server, check your internet connection. If it says this computer already has a Free account, sign in with that account or upgrade.

  • The Launch button does nothing

The champspace:// link only works once the installed app has run at least once, which is when it registers the scheme with the operating system. Open the app normally, quit it, then try the button again. If it still does nothing, the browser may be blocking the external-app prompt - allow it and retry.

  • The system warns about an unverified developer

The builds are not notarised yet. On macOS 15 and later, click Done on the warning, then open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom and choose Open Anyway - the right-click-and-Open shortcut no longer works. On Windows, choose More info and then Run anyway on the SmartScreen dialog. Either way it is needed only once.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with Zoom, Teams, Meet and Slack?

Yes, and with anything else that plays sound. It captures the audio your computer outputs rather than integrating with a specific meeting tool, so there is nothing to connect and nothing that breaks when a vendor changes their API.

Can the other side tell it is running?

Nothing joins the meeting and nothing is sent through your microphone. With Hide mode on, the window is excluded from screen shares and recordings. Someone looking at your physical screen can still see it.

Does it record or store my meetings?

No. Audio is streamed to Deepgram for transcription as it plays and is not written to disk by the app. The transcript lives in the window until you clear it or quit.

Which macOS and Windows versions are supported?

macOS 13 or later, because system audio capture uses ScreenCaptureKit, and 64-bit Windows 10 20H2 or later.

How do I update?

Download the current build from the download page and install it over the old one. Your account, profile and knowledge base stay where they are, so nothing needs setting up again.
